Oh Kale Yeah!

Happy National Kale Day!

We’re celebrating our favorite leafy green by eating it at every meal. Kale smoothie for breakfast. Kale salad for lunch. Pasta with kale for dinner.

So what makes kale so great that it deserves its own day? Per calorie, kale has more iron than beef, more calcium than milk and 10 times more vitamin C than spinach. It’s high in vitamins A, K & C, and low in fat, calories and carbs. Kale is also packed with phytonutrients that can help fight obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

Pick a recipe from our Oh Kale Yeah! Pinterest board, and celebrate National Kale Day with us!

Summer Playlist

When you’re feeling the burn, a bit of inspiration from Beyonce or a hot new track from Justin Timberlake can get you through. Music keeps us energized and motivated through even the toughest barre moves. Check out our Summer Jams on Spotify. We’ll be cranking these tunes and many more at The Barre Studio soon!

One Food, Four Ways.

It’s summer in Santa Cruz, and locally grown strawberries are plentiful. Watsonville and Salinas account for nearly half of California’s strawberry acreage, bringing perfectly ripe berries to our farmers markets and grocery stores.

Strawberries are more than just a sweet summer treat. They are high in antioxidants and packed with vitamins and nutrients. Strawberries are a good source of potassium, manganese and folate, and one cup of strawberries has more vitamin C than an orange. Just remember, strawberries have high pesticide residue, so it’s best to buy organic.
